SUMMARY <br />COLORADO DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS <br />DOTSERO CINDER PIT <br />' The pit is located approximately 5', miles west of Gypsum on U.S. 6 & 24 <br />and i mile north of the highway. <br />' The pit is a deposit of volcanic cinders laying in a steep-sided ravine. <br />The materia] came from a cinder cone in the area. The depth varies and <br />can be as deep as 60 feet on the slope of the ravine. <br />' ~ The material is excavated and fed through screening and crushing equipment <br />and placed in the stockpile areas. Tfie pit is used by both Eagle County and <br />' the Colorado Division of Highways. <br />Reclamation will consist of contouring the excavated areas to blend with the <br />surrounding terrain. The slopes will be left rough and will he saeda~l_ Thy <br />' floor of the pit •di'I1 be graded to drain with the natural drainage and all <br />waste piles will be smoothed to blend with the floor and the pit. Upon <br />completion of work in the pit> the haul road that is not required for access <br />' and the stockpile areas will be reclaimed.
