I feel it appropriate that the City of <br />Golden state its position relative to this particular operation <br />and the subsequent restoration of same. <br />For many years the City of Golden has been searching for <br />a reservoir site located on Clear Creek or one of its tribu- <br />taries. Over the years we have acquired enough transmountain <br />water to fill such a reservoir. <br />Approximately two years ago the City determined that the <br />ideal location for such a reservoir would be at the site of the <br />Empire Gravel Pit Operation. <br />At that time we contacted Mr. Byron Guanella, and subse- <br />quently the Ramsour Bros., and indicated to them our desire to <br />impound our water in the pits that would remain as the available <br />gravel was mined. <br />The City of Golden <br />the Ramsour Bros. that at <br />impound water the City of <br />complying with any mine r~ <br />Land Reclamation Board of <br />still is our intent. <br />did indicate <br />such time as <br />Golden would <br />~clamation pL <br />the State of <br />to Mr. Guanella and to <br />we are permitted to <br />assume the obligation of <br />sn imposed by the Mined <br />Colorado.
