Dear Mr. Rindahl:
It has come to my attention that the Empire Gravel Pit
reclamation plan is being reviewed by the State Mined Land
Reclamation Board. I feel it appropriate that the City of
Golden state its position relative to this particular operation
and the subsequent restoration of same.
For many years the City of Golden has been searching for
a reservoir site located on Clear Creek or one of its tribu-
taries. Over the years we have acquired enough transmountain
water to fill such a reservoir.
Approximately two years ago the City determined that the
ideal location for such a reservoir would be at the site of the
Empire Gravel Pit Operation.
At that time we contacted Mr. Byron Guanella, and subse-
quently the Ramsour Bros., and indicated to them our desire to
impound our water in the pits that would remain as the available
gravel was mined.
