Dear Mr. Kaldenbach:
Enclosed are the Edna Mine's (Permit #CO-0032638) CPDS reporting results for the
above referenced monitoring period. During the month of August 2002, DMP 001 did not
discharge. DMP 004 exceeded the compliance criteria for manganese during this monitoring
period. DMP 007 did not exceed any compliance criteria in August 2002. DMP 004 passed the
3`d quarter chronic WET test. However, DMP 007 failed the 3`d quarter chronic WET test and the
accelerated WET test for Daphnia magna. P & M Coal has initiated the PTI/TIE review at DMP
007 as required by the permit.
