Six are on Bureau
of Land Management (BLM) land and one is on private land.
Of the six wells on BLM lands, we wish to leave one well unreclaimed pending a satisfactory
water quality test that the BLM will procure within the next 30 days. The other five wells will
need to be reclaimed to Colorado State standards. The transfer of the private land well is a
matter between Mining &Minerals II (M&M II), the private landowner, and the State of
Colorado.
A map showing the location of the wells is enclosed. I have identified the wells we want
reclaimed and the one we wish to leave in place pending the results of the water quality test. The
wells are identified on the ground by three flagged steel fence stakes.
Also enclosed are documents to be signed transferring the well responsibility from M&M II to
BLM. All water wells must be reclaimed to meet the Clean Water Act standards that the State of
Colorado enforces. A licensed water well operator must conduct the well abandonment
procedures for the unwanted five wells remaining.
The local Colorado State Water Inspector's name and phone number is Walt Bohrer, (970) 826-
0810. He will advise you on who is licensed in this area to do this type of work, and he will
