i •
NICHOLSON GRAVEL PIT
EXHIBIT B (ammended 5/SJ86)
Mining Plan:
Four to twelve inches of topsoil will be salvaged with
a maximum volume of about 9000 cubic yards. This
topsoil will be stockpiled at the south side of the
affected site and overburden shall be stockpiled along
the west side of the site. The topsoil being
stockpiled at a lower elevation due to mining
operations shall be partially protected from wind by
the unmined portions of the site. The separation of
stockpiles will help to keep the topsoil from
contamination by other materials. Also, the stockpiles
shall be positioned along their relative sides so that
water shed at the mined area will not cause extensive
erosion to them. If it is later determined necessary,
adequate protective cover shall be used against wind
and water erosion. Total depth of mining will be
approximately twenty feet which will reveal soil
stratum including Haverson sandy loam, Vona loamy
sand, Stoneham loam, or Cascajo soils.
