Air and Noise Quality:
Within this operation trucks coming and going and heavy equipment operating it would add
continuous dust and exhaust fumes to the environment. The residents of the Town of Milliken
would continually hear the noise from the large trucks, heavy equipment, and back-up beepers
during the six days of operation with this facility.
Ground Water:
There aze numerous registered and non-registered wells within this proximity. What effect will
the gravel mining operation have on these wells and adjacent properties. Trucks and heavy
equipment operating near the Thompson rivers will cause contamination of the river due to the
use of diesel fuel, grease, hydraulic fluid, etc.
ildlife:
This area is a prime habitat for wildlife (deer, foxes, coyotes, bald eagles, raccoons, etc), which
some are on the endangered list. This operation would seriously destroy the habitat and create a
concern for the wetlands to the west.
PROPERTY VALUES:
The property owners of the Town of Milliken would be put at extreme risk of losing property
value and thus reducing the tax base for the town if this operation approved.
We understand that there is another request (PlatteTrust Annexation) of 1576 acres south of
Wildcat Acres Subdivision to be annexed into town, so they can proceed with a review of getting
a sand and gavel operation. We would hope that the town is not actively pursuing this type of
business, but pursuing commercial business that would be beneficial and improve the standard of
living for the residents and not be detrimental to them and the town.
In conclusion, based on the above we asked that this proposal be denied.
Town of Milliken Residents
Cc: Honorable Mayor Linda Messner
Milliken Board of Trustees
].R.
