Table 3 presents a summary of the historic use for the period 1969 - 1996 for the 2.5 shazes of <br />Lower Latham Ditch and the 2.25 shares of Lower Latham Reservoir used on the Nissen Farm. <br />The consumptive use attributed to both the 2.5 shazes of ditch water and the 2.25 shares of <br />reservoir water was estimated using a maximum field application efficiency of 63 percent and <br />the modified Blaney-Griddle method. Tables 4 and 5 show the river headgate diversions of the <br />Lower Latham Ditch and the calculated reservoir releases of the Lower Latham Reservoir. In <br />addition, Table 3 presents the pro-rata farm headgate deliveries of the 2.5 shares of ditch water <br />and the 2.25 shazes of reservoir releases, assuming a 20 percent ditch loss. There are 200 <br />outstanding shazes in the Lower Latham Ditch and 156 outstanding shazes in the Lower Latham <br />Reservoir. Table 3 also shows the prorated consumptive use of 2.5 shares ditch water and the <br />2.25 shares of reservoir water and the lagged returns associated with both sources. It was <br />assumed that 50 percent of the return flow volume returned to the river assub-surface and [fie <br />other 50 percent was surface return flow, The one-site groundwater return flows were lagged <br />back to the South Platte River using an 8 day stream depletion factor determined from Hun's <br />1965 SDF maps. The average yeaz conditions were used to show sufficient replacement water <br />existed as the 1977 reservoir releases significantly exceeded the 1969 - 1996 average releases. <br />A copy of the stock certificates for the 2.5 shares of ditch and 2.25 shazes of reservoir water aze <br />enclosed. Water Resources is a subsidiary company owned by Hall-Irwin Corporation. <br />Conclnsions <br />The 45.30 acre-feet of average annual pit depletions will be replaced using 0.60 shares of Lower <br />Latham Ditch and 2.25 shazes of Lower Latham Reservoir via direct release to the South Platte <br />River. Table 6 presents an accounting form that will be used to track operational losses and <br />replacement supplies. <br />Figure 1 shows all wells located in the vicinity of the proposed Nissen Pit. There is one well not <br />owned byHall-Irvin that will be located within 600 feet of the mining azea (Wickershame <br />#161560). However, since the pit will be lined prior to when mining operations commence, the <br />de-watering activities associated with the wells will not cause injury to this well.
