# rro IS OF THE 6TH PM. OF LAR/MER COUNTY, CCLORADO
PRE19?RED BY
MINING PLAN
The total pit is divided into four specific removal areas as shown on the map. Using scrapers,
the topsoil will be removed from Area 1 and stored in Area 4. Using the scrapers and front -end
loaders where necessary, the overburden soils will be removed sequentially and also stored in
Area 4, but separate from the topsoil. The crushing and processing equipment will be located as
shown. A temporary settling pond will be established adjacent to the crushing area from which the
discharge will be pumped back to the river.
Operations in Areas 2 and 3 will be handled similarly. It is anticipated at this time that Area 2
will be used as a land fill area by the City of Loveland to dispose of trees and other organic
debris, broken concrete, used asphalt, and other such materials. It will not be used as a
sanitary land fill. After gravel extraction, Area 1 will be used as a storage area for the over-
burden soils needed in the reclamation of Area 2. It will also be used as the stockpile area for
topsoil and overburden soils from Area 4.
A haul road will be constructed from State Highway 402 to the processing area, using the section
shown on the map. It will be paved to control dust. Due to the essentially agricultural uses
of the surrounding properties, except an adjacent gravel pit, dirt from the extraction operation
is felt to be a minimal problem. The road will be left intact for use by the City of Loveland
upon completion of the extraction.
TIME SCHEDULE
Total extraction and reclamation is estimated to be complete within 15 years of commencement of
the operation, with the exception of the land fill operations of the City of Loveland in Area 2.
There is no real way to estimate completion of that use, but it may well be complete at or near
the completion date of the mining operation.
