'These soils fomred in eolian sands and <br />sandstone alluvium. Slopes range from 0 to 16 percent. Elevations range from 3600 to 4400 feet. Mean annual <br />precipitation is 6 to 10 inches. Mean annual air temperature is 55 to 57 degrees F. Frost-free period is 160 to 180 <br />days. <br />GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Pagina and Sheppard series. Pagina soils are <br />DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Somewhat excessively drained; slow runoff; moderatey rapid penneablily. <br />USE AND VEGETATION: Used mainlyfor livestock grating. Vegetation is mainly blackbrush, Mormon-tea, broom <br />moderately deep. Sheppard soils are very deep. <br />snakeweed, Indian ricegrass, and annuals. <br />DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Northern Arizona.
