<br />DARVEY SERIES <br />LOCATION NM <br />Established Series <br />ev. CRL-RCP-RJA-ACT <br />11 /97 <br />The Darvey series consists of very deep, well drained, moderately permeable soils that formed in alluvium from <br />calcareous sandstone, shale and limestone. These soils are on hills, fan terraces, and valley fill. Slope ranges from <br />0 to 5 percent. Mean annual precipitation is about 12 inches and mean annual air temperature is about 55 degrees <br />F. <br />TAXONOMIC CLASS: Fine-loamy, mixed, superacfive, mesic Ustic Haplocalcids <br />TYPICAL PEDON: Darvey loam -rangeland. (Colors are for dry soil unless otherwise noted.) <br />-0 to 6 inches; dark brown (10YR 4/3) loam, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; weak medium subangular blocky <br />• structure; hard, friable, sticky and slightly plastic; many fine and few very fine roots; many fine interstitial pores; <br />strongly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 82); dear smooth boundary. (3 to 10 inches thick) <br />Bw1-6 to 20 inches; brown (7.SYR 5/4) loam, dark brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist; strong medium subangular blocky <br />structure; hard, friable, slightly sfidry and Blighty plastic; common very fine and fine roots; many fine tubular pores; <br />moderately alkaline (pH 8.2); gradual smooth boundary. <br />Bw2-20 to 31 inches; brown (7.5YR 5/4) loam, dark brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist; moderate medium subangular <br />blocky structure; hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; common veryfine roots; common fine tubular pores; <br />strongly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.2); dear irregular boundary. (Combined thickness of Bw horiwns <br />is 7 to 30 inches) <br />Bk1-31 to 38 inches; pink (7.SYR 7/4) loam, light brown (7.5YR 6/4) moist; weak medium subangular blocky <br />structure; hard, fdable, sticky and plastic; common veryfine roots; common fine tubular pores; strongly effervescent; <br />many calcium carbonate accumulations; moderately alkaline (pH 8.2); gradual irregular boundary.
