When the range deteriorates, the proportion of Ind an ricegrasa,
needleand[hread, and western wheatgrass decreases; and the am unt of blue
grams, threeawn, snakeweed, and ribber rabbitbrush increases. Undesirable
weeds and annual plants invade and become more abundant as ra ge condition
becomes poorer.
Establishing seedings is difficult because of the low rai fell.
Deferred grazing, cross fencing, and stock water developments will help to
prevent range deterioration and promote the growth of more de irable plant
species.
- This unit has limited potential for wildlife when used as range because
of low vegetation production. Honirrigated lands are best us d for wildlife
such as jackrabbits, cottontail, and coyote. When wildlife u e on these
sparsely vegetated soils is contemplated, proper livestock gr zing
management is necessary. When irrigated, crop residues from a[s and barley
can be utilized by ring-necked pheasant and waterfowl.
This unit is well suited to homesite development. The li Station of
moderate permeability can be overcome by increasing the size ~f the septic
tank absorption field.
This map unit is in capability subclasses IIIe, irrigate
nonltrlgated.
