What to do if BmTOwing Owls are present
If Burrowing Owls aze confirmed to be present in a prairie dog town, there aze two options before proceeding with
planned activities:
1. Wait to initiate activities until after November 1 or until it can be confirmed that the owls have left the pruuie
dog town
2. Carefully monitor the activities of the owls, noting and mazking which burrows they are using the owls may
use several burrows in a prairie dog town. This is not easy to accomplish and will require considerable time
When all active Burrowing Owl burrows have been located and marked, activity can proceed in azeas greater than
150 feet from Burrowing Owl burrows with little danger to the owls Activity closer than I50 feet may endanger
the owls.
Reference
Conway, C J and J.
