NORTHWEST COLORADO CONSULTANTS, INC. <br /> <br />• <br />Project: Refuse Pile Access Road Project No.: 96-2621 <br />Location: Foidel Creek Mine Report No.: 13 <br />Client: Bower Brothers Construction <br />Date: 9/5/96 <br />Time: 2.0 <br />Work Performed: <br />Mileage: 14 <br />EngrJTech: JK <br />As requested, we visited the project site on this date to conduct nuclear density test No.'s 32 through 39 on the <br />material placed. <br />The excavation contractor, Bower Brothers Construction, placed and compacted imported pit run sands and <br />gravels on the waste pile's northern access above an installed 24' CMP, and also on a 100' stretch of the adjacent <br />haul road above the 3 installed 24' CMPs. We verified thickness of placed material to be 8" to 10' and width to be <br />24' on the adjacent haul road and thickness of material to be 8" and width to be 17' on the north end access. <br />We also conducted density tests on a 400' section of the refuse pile access road from Sta. 16+00 to Sta. 20+00. <br />We verified thickness of pit run subbase materials to be 16" and thickness of base course materials to be 4". <br />Width of placed materials ranged from 16' to 18'. <br />Remarks: <br />The material tested generally met project specifications. Compaction ranged from 95% to 97% and moisture <br />contents ranged from 2.2% to 3.5% below optimum. Material was tested 24+ hours after placement. Material <br />tested on refuse pile access road was done so several months after placement. <br />Verbal Discussions: <br />Bud Bower of Bower Brothers Construction was notified of today's test results. <br />• <br />
