CO-0000710; NiIIVVERAL COUNTY <br />Dear Mr. Holmer: <br />Our Ref: 933-2714 <br />This letter transmits information discussed during our recent meeting on February 10, 1994 <br />' related to hydrologic conditions at the Bulldog Mine. Included are copies of various maps <br />and photographs that were used during our meeting to describe site conditions and results <br />of the December 1993 water quality sampling round that was conducted. It is our <br />understanding that this information will be adequate for you to inactivate the above <br />referenced permit contingent on the results of a spring and seep survey this summer. <br />' Physical Settine <br />The Bulldog Mine and surrounding area aze shown in the U.S.G.S. Quad maps included in <br />' Attachment 1. The mine is located along the west side of Windy Gulch which is an <br />ephemeral stream that is tributary to Willow Creek. Locations of the two mine portals at <br />elevations 9360 and 9700 feet aze shown. <br />'. The locations of the Commodore Mine and Nelson Tunnel aze also shown. The Nelson <br />' Tunnel is at a reported elevation of 9172 feet and is the lowermost portal in the Commodore <br />mine complex. The Commodore is located on the west side of West Willow Creek which <br />is a perennial stream. Further to the north along West Willow Creek are the Amethyst, <br />' Last Chance, Happy Thought and Park Regent mines, all of which have interconnected <br />underground workings that aze drained by the Nelson Tunnel. The Bulldog Mine is not <br />interconnected with the Commodore and other workings along West Willow Creek. <br />t Below the Commodore Mine, West Willow Creek joins with East Willow Creek to form <br />Willow Creek. Just north of Creede, Willow Creek enters a lined flume built for flood <br />control. Willow Creek flows in the flume through Creede.
