• 4.
~~l
Wildlife, such as mule deer, cottontail rabbits, coyotes, squirrels,
and various birds utilize this soil. They obtain their food from nearby
cropland and rangeland and from plants on the soil. Wooded areas provide
shelter and nesting areas. Management for wildlife includes protection from
overgrazing by livestock, prevention of fires, and maintaining adequate
plant cover, including pinyon-juniper and other trees.
Steep slopes, gravel and cobble, are the primary limiting soil features
when planning for the construction of homes and other community
developments. Grave!. and cobble affect excavation for foundations, utility
lines and roads. The construction of sanitary facilities is severly limited
by steep slopes and gravel and cobble. Off site disposal systems will be
more satisfactory.
These areas are sources of gravel and roadfill material. The soil
material usually requires screening or screening and crushing [o eliminate
large stones and get the desired size gravel or roadfill.
Capability subclass VIIe, nonitrigated.
