Briefly, the risk of diverting the main Colorado River through the gravel pit by flooding
will be greatly increased by the proposed "Texas Crossing" structure described in the U.S. C. of
E. Notice. Attached is a copy of my letter to the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The comments
are a summary of my knowledge of existing conditions and future scenarios of reasonably certain,
but unwanted, environmental impacts. The processes and scenarios noted below are based, in
large part, on hydrologic principles, on what has occurred on many western rivers as a result of
natural processes interrupted by man's activities, and upon my experience during a 35-year period
with the U.S. Geological Survey, and more than 10 years' experience as a consulting geo-
hydrologist.
My concerns include important public values, as well as those related to my property near the
project. If you haa•e questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
~~, ~ ~~~
Glen A.
