EXHIBIT D Reclamation Plan
As previously mentioned, the mine area currently has an existing
open pit face and the area has been stripped, therefore, there is
no topsoil or overburden to be removed in the excavation area.
Upon completion of the excavation, the newly affected portion of
the pit wall will be sloped at 3:1 or greater.
As the topsoil in the stockpile and existing plant site area is
minimal, reclamtion will consist of scarifying the area with a
plow or disc, drilling the seed and then using a straw mulch
crimped in place at a minimum rate of 2 tons per acre. Seeding
and fertilizer application rates will be determined as per S.C.S.
attached recommendations.
There will be no ponds or buildings remaining on-site as a result
of this operation.
Sterling Paving Company has received a letter from the Soil
Conservation Service dated October 20, 1988. The District
Conservationist recommends slopes of 3:1 or flatter which we have
agr~aed to do. Topsoil should be replaced at a depth of 4-6
inches depending on "availability". As we pointed out, the
proposed excavation area and screening plant area has been
pre~riously disturbed and stripped of topsoil. We will scarify,
mul~:h, seed and fertilize this area with 30 tons of feedlot
manure per acre, but we would expect minimal results. We will
see<9 with the recommended P.L.S. rate of:
30$ Blue Grama - .45#
20$ Side Oats - .90#
25$ Western Wheatgrass - 2.00#
25~ Little Bluestem - .90#
Reclamation will be done in the late fall or early spring.
