Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc. * Hayden Gulch Loadout Weed Management Plan
Spot Treatment Mixing
• 1 % Solution in 100 Gallons = 1 gallon of Chemical
• 1 % Solution in 3 Gallons = 3.8 oz. = 11.5 tbsp = 114 ml
• 1 % Solution in 1 Gallon = 1.3 oz. = 4 Tbsp = 39 ml
• 2% Solution in 1 Gallon = 2.5 oz. = 8 Tbsp = 75 ml
• Escort package contains a measuring funnel. Use a'/a % mixture for spot spraying.
See label instructions for specific species.
Mechanical and Biological Control
1. Some weed species succumb to mechanical control, i.e, disking and hoeing. When
possible mechanical control will be the method of choice.
2. Annuals such as Pennycress will be disked prior to seeding with a permanent and
competitive grass mixture, see attachment for seed mix.
3. Burning will be conducted where possible, with approval of appropriate government
agencies.
4. Hand pulling of individual plants will be done for small infestations.
5. Stump cutting will be part of the control effort for Tamazisk.
6. Cattle and horses may be used to stimulate production of competitive grass and shrub
species through grazing management.
7. Mowing before flower set will be used when possible.
8. Biological control will be used on some species if a method exists that is proven to work
effectively. The economics of biological control will be considered when making the
decision to use this method.
9. All disturbed areas will be seeded with a competitive grass mix, see attached list.
Monitoring and Reporting
1. Each spring prior to control application, qualified HGTI personnel will survey and map,
as accurately as possible, all weed infestations. HGTI will map weed infestations using a
contour search pattern, i.e. following the contour on a 100 to 200 ft. detection swath on
foot or with an ATV. The information will be recorded on an aerial photo or topographic
map with a minimum scale of 1-inch = 500 feet.
2. The map will be a permanent record available for inspection by the Routt County weed
coordinator and any other interested party.
TR-07 6 March 2006
