Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc. * Hayden Gulch Loadout Weed Management Plan <br /> <br /> <br />i <br />1.0 Introduction <br />Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc. (HGTI), owns and leases land for surface coal mining and ancillary <br />activities in Routt County, Colorado. HGTI has two permitted coal mining areas -Hayden Gulch <br />Mine (Permit No. C-80-003) and Hayden Gulch Loadout (Permit No. C-92-081). The mine <br />locations are shown on the attached general location map. Amore detailed land ownership <br />description and map is presented in Tab 3 of the Permit Application Package (PAP). <br />Weed and vegetation surveys conducted on the HGTI property have identified a variety of noxious <br />weed species. The management of these noxious weeds varies according to level of infestation and <br />sensitivity of surrounding vegetation. HGTI uses an integrated approach to weed control on <br />property owned or controlled in Routt County, Colorado. Management includes prevention, <br />chemical, mechanical and biological controls. <br />Pursuant to the Colorado Noxious Weed Act and amended regulations, (35-5.5-101 thru 119, C.R.S. <br />[2003]), as well as, Rule 4.15.1(5) of the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board for Coal Mining, HGTI has prepazed the following weed management plan. <br />2.0 Weed Inventory <br />The list of plants classified as noxious weeds are listed in the Colorado Noxious Weed Act, 33-5.5- <br />101 to 119, C.R.S. (2003). The noxious weeds aze listed according to "A", "B", and "C" species. <br />No "A" list species have been observed on HGTI property. Continued annual monitoring will be <br />conducted to insure that no "A" Iist plants go undetected and subsequent removal and destruction. <br />Several species from the "B" and "C" lists, as well as, other invasive and highly competitive weed <br />species that are less desirable plants have been observed on HGTI property. <br />The following Colorado Noxious Weed Act species have been identified through vegetation studies <br />and field observation to exist on Hayden Gulch Loadout property: <br />Bull thistle (Cirsium valgare) <br />Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense) <br />Common mullein (Yerbascum thapsus} <br />Curly dock (Rumex crispus) <br />Dalmatian toadflax (Linaria genistifolia) <br />Downy brome, cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum} <br />Houndstongue (Cynoglossum officinale) <br />Scotch thistle (Onopordum tauricum) <br />TR-07 <br />March 2006 <br />
