• RESULTS
water Chemistry
The waters' initial chemical characteristics appear in Table 2.
Final chemical characteristics can be found in Appendix A-Final
Chemistries
Toxicity Tests and Survival data
The effluent toxicity was not removed in any of the effluent
characterization tests. Final manipulated effluent mortalities
were comparable to unmanipulated effluent mortalities:
Initial Effluent Toxicity Test - LCso = 71~ Effluent
Baseline Effluent Toxicity Test - LCSO = 70$ Effluent
pH Adjustment Test - pH 3 LCso = 71$ Effluent
pH 11 LCSO = 57% Effluent
EDTA & Oxidant Reduction Test - 1000 Mortality
At pH 3 the effluent alkalinity was reduced significantly.
The pH 11 adjustment test caused 19% greater mortality than that
seen in the Baseline Toxicity Test.
EDTA toxicity was present in the chelation test.
Sodium Thiosulfate toxicity was not present in the oxidant
reduction test. Therefore, the oxidant reduction data is non-
conclusive.
The ICP Scan on the Effluent Found a Significant 6odium
Concentration of 1005 mg/L.
See Appendix B, - Laboratory Bench Sheets /ICP Scan, - for
Individual Test Results.
Statistical Analysis
Appendix C - Results of The Binomial Test
-4 -
COMMERCIAL TESTING & ENGIN EE RING CO.
~al Wa~ermarKetl For Yo u~ Proieaion ~~`
