OCT-30-2001 TUE 02 54 PM BANKS GESSO LLC FAH N0, 303 ~ 8329 P, 05
in the soils portion of the application, the Division believes a more appropriate replacement
depth to be 18" There appears to be more than enough topsoil available tc achieve an
18"replacement depth. Please address accordingly.
~JAs stated above, topsoil has been mixed with other material in the southwest portion of the
~/~ mining area, but it will be consolidated to the extent possible. The Applicant believes,
however, that there will be excess topsoil, and thus reclamation will include an 1 ti inch
replacement depth. ~ - -
10. The applicant states that mulch will be applied during reclamation. Please state the type
and quantity o/mulch to be used.
For mulch, straw at 1 3'z to 2 tons per acre will be crimped into the soil surface using a disk
type packer.
11. Please specify the season for revegetaNon of the site as required by Aule 6.4.5(f)(ii).
Revegetation will occur In the fall or spring to maximize the length of the first growing
season and provide optimum conditions for successful revegetation.
12. The applicant proposes a seed mixture containing Western Wheatgrass, Sideoats Grama
and Blue Grama. These species do well in a dry rangeland environment. The Division
suggests that the applicant include a few other species that adapt well to the riparian
transition such as Streambank Wheatgrass and Slender Wheatgrass. Please address
,l accordingly.
The permanent seed mix will include Westem Wheatgrass, Sideoats Grama, Blue Grama,
Needle and Thread, Streambank Wheatgrass, and Slender Wheatgrass.
~~L~
Rule 6.4.7 Exhibit G-Water Information
13. Rule 6.4.7(3) requires that the applicant provide an estimate of the project water
requirements including flow rates and annual volumes for the development; mining, and
reclamation phases of the operation. This would include volumes of evaporative loss
expected during maximum pit disturbance as well as during final reclamation. Please
address.
A Temporary Substitute Supply Plan for the proposed 124" Estates Sand and Gravel Mine
has been submitted to the Office of the State Engineer for its review and approval. This
/ plan estimates that during the period of maximum site disturbance, water loss due to
t/ evaporation will approximate 81 acre feet per year through losses by evaporation }rom
exposed acreage, product water loss, and dust suppression. During the final phases of
reclamation, water loss will approximate 85 acre feet per year -all attributable to
evaporative depletion from exposed acreage. The Substitute Supply Plan includes
provision to augment these losses to groundwater.
f4. In conformance with Rule 6.4.7(4), the applicant will need to clarity the water rights
currently held by the applicant that will be aveila6/e to supply the operational needs
identified in the previous question.
