Type o(MiningActivit~: Mining began at the site in Spring 1990 and ceased in October 1996. There are no current <br />mining operations or activities ongoing at the site. Reclamation activities have been underway since cessation of <br />mining activities in /996. However, the DMG reclamation bond has not been released. <br />B. Wastewater Treatment Facility Description: <br />Wastewater Treatment S stem: The wastewater treatment system drat is used by BMR/ includes an enhanced <br />evaporation system that results in no direct discharge to the Rito Seco during t/re period of [he year when this is <br />feasible to use. During the other rimes of the year when a direct discharge to the Rito Seco will occur, the following <br />processes are used: wa[er softening; three lined miring/softening ponds; and a tnembrarte separation system. These <br />processes are operational. The treatment facility is designed to reduce levels of manganese, sulfate, and Jluonde, and <br />will also maintain other parameters at the required levels. Other long-term management options may u(timateh~ <br />include in-situ biological treaunent. The ultimate goal will be the re-establishment ojthe hydrologic connection <br />beM•een the West Pit and the Rito Seco alluvial grottndH•ater. <br />Flow Measurement: During Nre operation ojdre permanent San Luis water treannent plant, water flow data rsdll be <br />gathered at a number ojlocations. A flow totalizer has been placed in the discharge pipe from the plant. Although <br />BMR/ has multiple flow monitoring devices within the treatment train jor operational purposes, the only Jlow <br />measurement that is applicable for this discharge perntit is the Jlow measurement device in the discharge pipe. <br />2.
