GF.'W_3AL: The following information and recommendations <br />apply to tha four limestone quarries listed in Title I. <br />These four sites have essentially the same soil and the <br />same natural plant ccmm+~*+~ ties. In addition, a separate <br />paragraph is included dealing apacifically xith the <br />Queens Carryon Quarry. <br />j B. II~IVr 7TCRY <br />1. Soils <br />Paunsaugunt soils or soils similar to Paunsau3unt occur on <br />the Qusens Canyon Quarr.-f, the Pikeview Quarry, the Snyder <br />Quarry, and the Stack Land Quarry. <br />The Paunsaugunt soil is shallow and somewhat excessively <br />drained. It is formed in residium from limes~,.one. <br />Typically, the surface layer is dark grayish brown gravelly <br />loam about 6 inches tti.ck. The underlying layers are lighter <br />colored very gravelly loama. Hard linestona bedrock usually <br />I <br />occurs at a depth of about 17 inches. About 40 percent of the I <br />surface is covered with gravel and flaggy material. <br />1 <br />
