(U-shaped metal <br />pins are commercially available from mulch net manufacturers <br />for this purpose. They are usually made of B gauge wire and <br />are six inches or longer, in length.) Pin spacing will bz <br />not more than 10 linear Peet. If the soil is sandy or other- <br />xise.exceptionally loose, use longer pins and wooden stakzs, <br />as neednd, to firmly secure netting. <br />b. Mechanical method - spteial equipment is manufactured specifically <br />for this purpose. However, if a "mulch crimper" is not available, <br />a farm type disc plow can be used by setting the discs straight <br />and apply adequate weight to crimp the straw "4" into the soil. <br />C. Jute Netting - heavy woven jute mash designed for nulching. Install in <br />accordance with the manufacturers rece:anendations. <br />-. Excelsior Mat - wood covered with plastic netting. Installation will be <br />in accordance with r,.anufacturers recommendations. <br />E._ Erosion Control Fabric - plastic knitted yarn interwoven with strips of <br />paper. Install in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. <br />F. Feedlot or Barnyard Manure <br />1. The manure must be of a type that has 60$ or more, by weight, heavy <br />chunks 5 inches or more in diameter. Granular or poxdery manure will <br />not meet specifications. <br />2. The minimum rate of application shall be 20 tons per acre. Variation <br />from this amount will requ i z approval of the Area Conservationist. <br />3.
