KUIPER
State Engineer
III IIIIII III IIII III
Re: Western Paving Construction
Company Amendment #2
Dear Mr. Tiefel:
This is to acknowledge receipt of information concerning a gravel
operation near Lyons. As requested by your office, we have reviewed
the t•fater study for the Weng Farm property. We have estimated from
published evaporation and precipitation data for 1954 that lake evaporation
could exceed the historic consumptive use by 50% during very dry years.
In order to prevent injury to prior water rights, we recommend the
applicant obtain additional evaporation replacement water or reduce the
size of the proposed lake surface.
The present ditch shares and arty additonal replacement water <_hould
be provided in a replacement plan acceptable to the St. Vrain and Left
Hand Water Conservancy District. All replacement water should be permanently
and irrevocably attached to the mined land through a covenant or oi:her legal
means.
I` These conditions are acceptable to the applicant and to Boulder
C;,,.~w; :re have no objections to the approval of the amended permit.
Very truly yours,
~, y ~ , ~~Sd"a~.
Dr. Jeris A.
