Waldron:
With this letter, Brown and Caldwell is transmitting to the Division of Minerals and
Geology (DMG) the analytical results for groundwater samples collected at the GCC
Rio Grande Red Rock Plant and Limestone Mine Site. Samples were collected and
analyzed to satisfy Condition #1 of the Mined Land Reclamation Board's approval of
GCC Rio Grande's 112c mining permit apphcation: Baseline Water Quality Sampling.
Groundwater sampling fox the month of April 2004 was conducted on April 27, 2004.
Sampling methods followed those outlined in the Condition # 1 Groundwater
Sampling Plan dated March 2003.
Groundwater samples were collected from the Saint Charles River alluvial aquifer at
monitoring well locations MW-002, MW-003, and MW-004. The generator for the
DW-1 pump was installed and operational at the time of sampling, so samples were
also taken of the DW-1 Dakota aquifer well, Insufficient groundwater was detected in
monitoring well b1W-001A and therefore could not be sampled. Samples were
analyzed for the parameters listed in Condition #1, except for radiochemistry from
monitoring wells MW-002, MW-003, and MW-004, as there were not enough sample
collection bottles to collect water fox radiochemistry analysis. The analytical results axe
summarized in Tables 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Attachment A presents copies of the analytical reports prepared by ACZ Laboratories,
Inc. and Reserooixs Environmental, Inc. Sample D-13 is a duplicate sample collected
from DW-1, the Dakota aquifer well.
\\bcden03\projects\Data\GEMF-S-P-722421\Stipulation Response\Groundwa[er Sampling\Sampling Results\Apri12004Wpr
20P1 DMG Letter.doc
