Thompson:
A portion of the Phase I operation to stabilize the haulroad was under-
taken in the latter half of June, 1985.
The work completed included the following:
1. Slide debris was sloped and all tension cracks filled.
2. A rock drain was constructed and rock fill dumped into the oversteepened
• areas at the southern end of the slide ar_a.
3. The French drain was installed to a depth of approximately 15 feet.
The entire area appearei stable during the summer and fall. Visual
inspections of the slide area have been made each time the snow melted of` the
slope during Winter 1935/1936. During the winter, minor tension cracks have
appeared in the fill north of th= area containing rock fill. During the month of
Parch and beginning of April, minor slumping and creep on the face occurred in the
area belo~.•~ the tension cracks.
As soon as conditions are dry enou;h, additional sloping with a dozer
tiiill be performed, and if necessary, the rock fill will b2 ex,tended to reinforce
tf:e tae. At this point in time, it appears that the work outlined as Phase I in
previous correspondence will be sufficient to stabilize the area.
If you have any questions or require additional information, call me at
your convenience.
Sincerely,
COL/O'.dY~O COAL COt~PAPiY
~~
`/~
.
