,,
G2f4rrD JCT. 3t_rM1 ~ NsQGz.-r~~..t 1?G'Poa'ti-5
Inspection report
Umetco water monitoring well (R/W)
The well site was inspected on 10-11-00 by Bruce Fowler and Tony Bates, and the driller
(Gordon Smith) was met at the Cherokee site. Appazently, na water was encountered in the ore
horizon and the well will be plugged. The ore horizon was isolated with the packer, but no
rechazge occurred into the zone. It is not known why the Cotter drill hole drilled on the same site
supposedly did encounter water in the ore horizon. In any case, a report will be generated on the
well by Fred Peale, which will include data gathered on the upper water zones.
The well will be pugged on 10-12-00. The plugging will be with cement with about 3%
bentonite mixed in to minimize shrinkage of the cement. It will be plugged from the bottom thru
the drill rods, which will stay in cement at all times. The cement top will either be above the
uppermost water zone (Burro Canyon) or back to surface. A cement surface plug will be set.
The water retention pit will be left over the winter to evaporate and dry up. Then in the spring,
Umetco will backfill the pit and reclaim the site, probably with their front-end loader.
:~
e
