The following is a list of species which may inhabit the
area, or be effected by the proposed project.
Be advised that the Fish and Wildlife Service can enter into formal section
consultation only with another Federal agency or its designee. The lead
Federal agency, (most likely the BLM in this case) is required under section
(a) (2) of the Endangered Species Act (Act) to determine whether or not this
action may affect any listed species or their critical habitat. Although
applicants may fill the role of non-Federal representatives, the ultimate
responsibility for compliance with section 7 remains with the lead Federal
agency.
FEDERALLY L%STED SPEC%ES
Bald eagle
Haliaeetus leucocephalus
We would also like to..bring to your attention species which are candidates for
official listing as threatened or endangered species (Federal Register, Vol.
56, Na. 225, November 21, 1991). While these species presently have no legal
protection under the Act, it is within the spirit of the Act to consider
project impacts to potentially sensitive candidate species. Additionally, we
wish to make you aware of the presence of Federal candidates should any be
proposed or listed prior to the time that all Federal actions related to the
project are completed.
FEDERAL CAND%DATE SPEC%ES
Ferruginous hawk Buteo regalis
Loggerhead shrike Lanius ludovicianus
Columbian sharptailed grouse Tympanuchus phasianellus columhianus
