<br />Colowvo Mine Logical Minine Unit Modiilcation
<br />The Mineral Leasing Act of February 25, 1920, as amended by the Federal Coal Leasing
<br />Amendments Act of 1976, authorizes the consolidation of coal leases into a logical mining
<br />unit (LMU). An LMU is an area of land in which the coal resources can be developed in an
<br />efficient, economical, and orderly manner as a unit with due regard to conservation of coal
<br />resources and other resources.
<br />As a result of an application for an LMU modification filed by Colowyo Coat Company to
<br />add federal coal Tease C-29226, the Colowyo Mine LMU modification is approved effective
<br />March 28, 1993. The effective date of the LMU remains April 1, 1992. The modification
<br />changes the land description to include federal coal lease C-29226, notes the approval date of
<br />the amended resource recovery and protection plan (R2P2), changes the continued operations
<br />production requirement, and provides as follows:
<br />1. UNIT AREA: The area described as fo[Iows, containing 13,299.78 acres, including
<br />seven federal coal leases, is hereby designated the LMU area.
