Assume roads will be constructed 12 feet wide. A small sized dozer in the CAT D4 or D6
class will be used on the project.
Brushed Access Road Disturbance:
12 ft x 16.725 ft = 4.61 acres
43,560ft2/acre
Total Surface Disturbance for Bonding:
Therefore, combining drill pad site and road acreage disturbance, the total acres to be
reseeded is 2.88 + 4.61 = 7.49 acres, round up to 7.50 total acres to be reseeded.
Drill Hole Abandonment for Bonding:
For downhole abandonment bonding purposes, all 25 sites that will require bonding for
surface site disturbance will also require complete downhole abandonment and sealing
(12,940 feet of drilled pilot hole), In addition to those 25 sites, drill holes WP-07-06 (330
feet deep) and WP-07-07 (440 feet deep) will need to be completely plugged since they aze
outside of the proposed West Pit mining limits. For drill hole WP-07-O5, assume that the
first 360 feet of drill hole does not need to be plugged (active mining zone) leaving 740 feet
of drill hole to be abandoned (1100-360=740).
Therefore, total drilled footage for pilot drill holes is 12940+330+440+740=14,450 feet.
In addition to the initial pilot drill hole, many of these drill sites will be twinned on the same
pad with another core hole, therefore assume 75% additional footage for the core holes which
gives an additiona110,838 feet of core drilling (0.75 * 14450 = 10838).
Therefore, for bonding purposes, the total estimated drill and core footage is 14450 +
10838 = 25.288 feet of drill hole to be abandoned. The average drill hole diameter will be
5.875 inches.
D{. Right of Entry
Colowyo's right to use the BLM and State surface is granted by the Coal Leases and is stated
as part of the LMU document. Refer to the enclosed Attachment A for additional
information. For the BLM lands interspersed between the Colowyo owned lands outside the
LMU, Colowyo has the BLM Grazing Allotments.
N:\CCC ENGWAN\DMGINOI DOC\07NOI\07 N01 Text.doc
10/26/05
14
