• 2.04.9 Soil Resource Information
Soils found in the permit area are delineated on the Soils Map (Map 4).
Site specific soil work has been completed by the United States
Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service ("SCS"), on the
permit and adjacent areas. The mapping intensity utilized by the SCS
was the Order 2 sampling intensity.
The main soil associations found within the permit and adjacent area are
as follows:
1) Witta-Falfa-Potts Association
2) Camborthids-Torriorthents-Haplargids Association
The areas affected by the previously constructed surface facilities of
the underground mining consisted primarily of the
Camborthids-Torriorthents-Haplargids Association.
• As mentioned earlier, the area to be used far the surface facilities of
the Peacock Coal Mine has been previously disturbed by past surface
operations of an underground operation. Therefore, at the
recommendation of the Division, no site specific soil survey was
conducted.
The planned surface disturbance of the facilities at the Peacock Coal
Mine is limited to approximately acres. This area has been previously
affected; in conversations with the Division, the standards of a
pre-mining soil survey were waived in lieu of this past disturbance.
The amount of fertilizer and/or soil amendments for the regraded area
will be based upon the results of the "soils" testing at the conclusion
of mining and determined in accordance with the recommendations of the
Division.

2.04-20
