The
format, with graphs and historical data, provides a very readable report.
The surface water samples from North Thompson Creek show somewhat higher Total
Dissolved Solids than in the 1988 samples. This may due to sampling during
times of relatively lower discharge. The dissolved iron concentrations were
elevated in both upstream and downstream samples, indicating that there are
significant sources of iron in North Thompson Creek besides the mine. Other
constituents were also hioher in the 1989 samples (sulfate, calcium, and
magnesium), possibly due to sampling during lower flows.
Water levels in the two piezometers remain stable, as they have been in the
past. It was noted that results from the June, 1989 sampling period were
missing from the report for both wells. Please let me know if these samples
were not taken, or if they were why the data was omitted. The a.uality of this
alluvial water, based on field conductivity measurements, was stable to
slightly hioher in 1989.
Please call or write if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
William B.
