iii iiiiiiiiiim iii <br />999 <br />STATE OF COLORADO <br />DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />1313 Sherman 51., Roam 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Phone: 13031 866-3567 <br />FAX: (3031 832-8106 <br />September 27, 1993 <br />To: Erica Crosby <br />From: Janet Binn~p~ <br />Re: Surface water analysis from East portal at Hawk's Nest Mine <br />aF.~arO <br />ti~~ f <br />net b0 <br />~~~~r <br />~ rBt6 <br />Roy Romer <br />Governor <br />o-+~~haei e. w~F <br />Drvisron DIIeUUr <br />I gave the results of the water sample collected at the Hawk's Nest East portal on August <br />30, 1993 a quick look over. <br />Items that I noted that we (the Division) may need to follow up on are the high SAR (34.4), <br />high Sodium (910 mg/L), high Bicarbonate (1890 mg/L), high Alkalinity (1550 mg/L), which <br />is also reflected in the very EC (specific conductivity) of 3540 umhos/cm and the high level <br />of TDS (2280 mg/L). <br />I'm not sure at this point the follow up we would need to do, but I thought these parameter <br />were worth noting. <br />Also a request from me and Kim, when you send a sample to CT&E or Health Department <br />please include the Mine ID # (though not the mine name) on the sampling sheet and please <br />copy me when you sample. This will help route the results to the correct specialist and <br />allow Kim to route the proper copies to the public files. And if I'm copied I can contact <br />the lab if the results are slow in coming. Thanks. <br />
