This evaluation
is required in accordance with C. R. S. 34-32.5-I I S (4) e.
Site Inspection
RG Consulting Engineers, Inc., (RGCE) performed a site inspection of the above project site on
June I, 2000, to identify the permanent man-made structures that are located within 200 feet of
the affected land for Monument View Gravel Pit. RGCE also reviewed the underground utilit}•
drawings from the City of Grand Junction, Ute Water, Public Service Company, Grand Valley
Rural Power, US West, and TCI Cablevision. The man-made structures within 200 feet of the
site are listed in Attachment A, included with this letter. Based on discussions with Mr. Steve
Shuey of the State of Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, permanent man-made
structures include any above or below ground man made structure, including items such as
existing buildings or structures, manholes, underground utilities, fences, telephone/power poles,
metal telephone/power cabinets, roads, drainage/irrigation ditches, etc.
The 37.6 acre site is relatively flat, with a gentle slope to the southeast at approximately a 0.5%
grade. The site is bounded to the north by G Road, 23 Road to the West. Vacant land to the East,
and to the south by Western Slope Iron and Supply and a trailer park. The site has a 20' drainage
and utility easement that runs the length of the south and east boundary, and a 14' multipurpose
easement to the north. A 40' X 50' easement has been provided at the southwest corner of the
site for askid-mounted metal enclosure that is owned by US West.
The Ciry of Grand Junction requires a [him-foot (30) mining buffer from the south and east
drainage and utility easements, a 12~-ft buffer from [he [railer park units, a 26' right-of--way
(ROW) buffer along 23 Road, and a 16-ft ROW buffer along G Road. Exhibit C-I drawing from
the I I2 Permit application depicts the man-made structures within 200-ft of the permit boundary.
336 main street, suite 203 • grand junction, Colorado 81501 • (970) 242-7540 fax (970) 255-1212
