1
' G.4 Existing Water Rights in the Proiect Vicinity
' According to the Colorado Division of Water Resources master
files, there are several existing water rights in the vicinity of
San Luis Project. A listing of these existing water rights is shown
in Table G.4-1.
The only water right that is located on the mine site property
is the El Plomo Ditch, which, according to the State Engineer's
' records, has been inactive for a period of at least 20 years.
Likewise, the Willow Creek Ditch and Willow Creek Reservoir water
' rights are inactive. There is no ditch headgate and the reservoir
has been breached.
The only active surface water rights in the vicinity of the
mine project are the Salazar Ditch, the AA Salazar Ditch 1, and the
' AA Salazar Ditch 2. These water rights operate ~>n Rito Seco
approximately one to three miles downstream of the mine site.

The other water rights listed in Table G.4-1 are well water
supplies which extract their water from the Santa Fe Formation in
' the alluvial plain area west of the mine site.
' Figure G-15 shows the location of existing water rights in the
project vicinity.
' Since Battle Mountain will obtain an augmentztion plan to
replace depletions to the stream system, there will bE no injury to
these existing water rights.
' G.5 Evaluation of the Hydrologic Imoacts Due to Mining
' G.5.1 Surface Water
' Water quality in the Rito Seco will be monitored
throughout the pre-mining period, as well as during the mining
' G-52
