3
^ In one instance, Well 19-2, dissolved barium levels are elevated with no
corresponding increases in any of the other indicator constituents. It is highly
likely that this trend results from leaching of barium from the materials that were
' used to plug off the well when it ignited during coring due to high methane in the
formation. When several purge volumes are extracted from this well using the
' micro purge equipment the barium levels begin to drop.
In addition to the elevated barium levels in Well 19-2, three other wells, Well 21-
4U, Well 21-3U, and We1121-4A also indicated elevated barium during the
current report period. The difference column in the following table shows how
slight the difference between the values is for these wells.
' Well Barium Value EWI NPL Difference
' 21-4U 5.49 mg/L 5.29 mg/L None 0.2 mg/L
21-3U 4.86 mg/L None 4.66 mg/L 0.2 mg/L
' 21-3U 4.84 mg/L None 4.66 mg/L 0.18 mg/L
21-4A 3.38 mg/L 3.29 mg/L None 0.09 mg/L
' 19-2 2.87 mg/L 2.35 mg/L None 0.52 mg/L
19-2 3.41 mg/L 2.35 mg/L None 1.06 mg/L
Boron is elevated in five wells including Well 21-3U, Well 21-3A, 21~A, 29-3 and
' 29-48 during the report period. The charts for this constituent at these sampling
points indicate generally less than 1 mg/L elevation above the EWI or NPL.
Boron Value EVUI NPL Difference
21-3U 3.4 mg/L None 3.12 mg/L 0.28 mg/L
~1-3A 5.4 mg/L None 4.4 mg/L 1.00 mg/L
21-4A 5.1 mg/L 4.8 mg/L None 0.30 mg/L
29-3 5.1 mg/L 4.8 mg/L None 0.30 mg/L
29-4B 1.21 mg/L 1,01 mg/L None 0.20 mg/L
