1
LABORATORY TESTING PROGRAM:
i Moisture content, ASTM D-2216, was obtained in the laboratory
' for all samples. A grain size analysis, ASTM D-422, and determination
of the Atterberg Limits, ASTM D-423, were performed for each repre-
' sentative soil type in order to permit determination of index
properties and the Unified Soil Classification.
Shear strength information on the refuse materials and native
' soils were available from a previous investigation at the same site
prepared by Armstrong Engineers and Associates, Inc. of Grand Junction,
' Colorado. The materials tested were found to have the following
properties:
' Overburden #1
Liquid Limit - 36.5
Plasticity Index - 14.7
= 18.4°
C = 100 psf
' Overburden #2
Liquid Limit - 36.3
Plasticity Index - 13.0
' ~ = 14.9°
C = 200 psf
Refuse
Liquid Limit - 38.4
'
Plasticity Index - NP
1 ~ = 18.4°
C = 0 psf
' tdeathered Refuse
Liquid Limit - 33.0
'
Plasticity Index - 8.0
w
