• OVERVIEW <br />Appendix 4.4-A contains descriptions of the plant species that may be <br />used in revegetating the disturbed lands at the Edna Mine. The evaluations of <br />the species were derived for the most part from the Western Energy Land Use <br />Team's ('WELUT') Plant Information Network ('PIN') data base and mine site <br />experience with many of the species in question. This appendix contains a <br />listing of definitions for the various attributes used in PIN, followed by <br />descriptions of the species. The plant species descriptions are grouped into <br />habits, including Grasses, Forbs and Trees and Shrubs. <br />• A. Weedy - A plant considered undesirable or troublesome, especially one <br />that is growing where it is not wanted. Plants are scored in P.I.N. <br />only once in the following order: 1. Noxious, 2. Economic, 3. <br />Colonizing and 4. Non-weedy. <br />1. Noxious - A plant which is listed on official noxious weed seed <br />lists of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota or Wyoming. <br />2. Economic - A plant whose growth and reproduction causes economic <br />loss. <br />3. Colonizinc - A plant which has attributes enabling it to become <br />easily established in areas of environmental disturbance or where <br />it is not wanted. <br />4. Non-weedy - Not a weed. <br />B.
