~ . ~
ASSESSMENT OF IMPACT JN WILDLIFE:
This gravel pit will be in and adjacent to an intermittent
wash in sage brush (low) - grass habitat. There is no live water
(other than run-off) in the vicinity and no riparian habitat with-
in 1/2 mile. No new road is planned; the existing road will probably
be improved and/or widen. No sage grouse strutting grounds are known
to exist in the vicinity, however sage grouse do inhabit the area.
The area of the proposed gravel pit would be defined as winter range
for deer and sage grouse and an occasional ilk. The gravel pit
operation should have a minimum impact on wildlife if operated in a
prudent manner.
RECLAMATION RECOMD7ENDATIONS:
Top soil should be scraped and stored. The area should be
contoured to match the surroundings. Top soil should be replaced
and the area reseeded with a mixture of native and introduced
grasses recommended by the local SCS.
~ti ~~a.,~.... S "- - - - _.
Colo.
