The Division has reviewed the <br />comments in your September 30, 1997, letter and the submittal dated February 9, 1998, that responds to the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (CDMG) letter dated January 12, 1998. Additionally, we have <br />followed the progress in obtaining approval from CDMG for conversion of the Colowyo ponds from the <br />"containment" mode to the "treatment" mode. As mutually agreed upon, we have held off responding to your <br />letter or taking any action regarding the new individual permit issuance pending completion of this conversion. <br />It is our understanding that approvals from CDMG are imminent so we have begun revising the CDPS permit <br />accordingly. This letter contains our response to your letters adjusted by what we understand the general <br />wastewater treatment system configurations to be after conversion. ' <br />We will respond in the order established in your letters. <br />SEPTEMBER 30. 1997 LETTER <br />ti hale <br />1. Table R-1 will be modified to represent the current data as recently submitted by you. Thank you for this <br />information. Some of these data will also be used in a table in the Wastewater Treatment Description <br />section of the rationale (N.B.). <br />2. We will change the industry description per your comment. <br />(There was no comment 3.) <br />4. We will change "Sources to Treatment Plant" to Sources to Treatment System". We will also change the <br />language regarding water entering a pit. Concurrence has previously been reached on this subject. <br />5. After consideration, we agree with your comment. Some of these chemicals do treat waters although some <br />do not, strictly speaking. We will change this section. <br />
