Enclosed is a copy of proof of publication circulation in the Greeley Tribune. Notice to landowners was sent to the
Division on September 12, 2005.
2. Site Description: Enclosed is a soil survey map with the approximate location of the proposed site outline in
green. The site is located in the #20 area of the map; this is referenced in Exhibit "B" of the application.
3. The owner of the fence is the landowner, Mr. Ashbaugh.
4. Weld County will be working the pit intermittently as material is needed. Material from this pit will be used in the
surrounding area on county road maintenance and county projects. Weld County, because of its size, works in
different areas of the county at different times of the year depending on the need and weather. It will be
uncommon to surpass 180 days of inactivity at the pit, although it may be a possibility. It would not be for an
extended period of time.
5. If the topsoil is not reapplied within one year of removal, the stockpiled material will have straw or hay
crimped/mulched in or we will seed the stockpile with cover crop. It is possible that the topsoil will have a seed
source of grass that could grow on its own.
6. Enclosed also is a copy of the Substitute Water Supply Plan for the Geisert Pit approved by the State Engineer's
Office. We are permitted to use up to 75 acre-feet per year. Our current usage will be approximately 50 acre-feet
leaving us more than enough water for use at the Ashbaugh Gravel Pit.
If you have any qu lions, please call.
Sincerely,
Greg Nelson
Mining Supervisor
Enclosures
pc: Ashbaugh Gravel Pit file M:\Mining\AShbaugh M&G-Iet.DOC
