sites are to be located within the proposed mining and haul road corridor
disturbance areas.
•
• Provide productivity information (SCS Forth 5s) for each soil type.
• Provide to PWCC engineering personnel site-specific soils information (K factors,
hydrologic groups, plasticity, and compatibility information) that will be used to
design and size ponds, ditches, culverts, roads, and embankments.
• Determine soil salvage depths for each soil type based upon site-specific soil
suitability data, recent literature, regional information, and intended postmine land
use. The projected salvage thickness will be developed in consultation with
PWCC.
• PWCC will estimate the volume of soil that will be salvaged for reclamation
purposes. PWCC will also determine whether soil is available in adequate
quantity and quality for use in reclamation.
This report presents all field and laboratory methodology used in the study as well as:
• Soil maps delineating all soil mapping units •
• Mapping unit descriptions
• Soil series descriptions
• Physical and chemical data
• Recommended soil salvage depths for each soil series and series variant, and soil
mapping unit, within the projected disturbance area, and
• Prime farmland assessment
•
2
