Page 2
described below.
To aid in re7regetatioa the topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled.
After mining the affected area rill have the topsoil spread on it. A nec-
' essary protection from offbtte drainage will be handled simply by the way
the topsoil is laid on. Once the topsoil ie spread, the areas will be re=
vegetated. T would recommend both areas be returned to native range species.
The mixture recommended to bring the area back to a condition at least equi-
valent to the pre-mining situation is shorn on Exhibit E. The seeding should
be done prior to May 15th or after November 15th. Once the seed is drilled,
the area x111 be fertilized xith 40 pounds per acre each of available Nitro-
gen and available Phosphorus, We recommend use of Urea and Super Phosphates
es nitrogen and phosphorus source, respectively. The rates shown on Exhibit
E are based on this. Then, the area should be spread with a strax mulch. The
' average length of the straw should be 10 inches and atrax rill be crimped ia-
' to the soil a minimum of 3 inches, All work should be done ea nearly on the
contour as feasible. Exhibit E shoxs the amounts per acre of seed and Per-
t tiliser needed. Aa the reclamation rill be ongoing, it is not feasible to
include acreage figures at this time. A¢ an area is ready to be revegetated
' it rill be measured for acreage. This amount can be multiplied by amounts
1 shorn on Exhibit E to get amounts needed for given area.
Finally, the area should be protected f;om grazing for minimum of 2 grow-
' ing seasons. Soma spot reaeediag during this period may be necessary and Trill
be done oa areas xh#ch don't establish.

1
LJ
-24-
