MANAGEMENT
RECEIVED
JAN 28 1998
Division of Minerals & Geology
Enclosed is a summary of the water quality analysis taken during December and
January on the water being discharged from outfall 001 at the Bear No. 3 Mine. Two
full suite samples have been taken but only one set of laboratory results are available
at this time. A demonstration of acute WET occurred during the routine fourth quarter
19971est sampled on December 16`". Bear conducted accelerated testing using the
single species found to be more sensitive (Ceriodaphnia dubia). Two accelerated tests
were performed on C. dubia. The first test was completed on January 5`" and the
second test was completed on January 11, 1998. Neither test indicated the effluent
was toxic to C. dubia. Since two consecutive tests passed, no pattern of toxicity is
found and the toxicity episode is considered to be ended.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~f ~'d~w`---'
/// J.
