EMERGENCY SPILLWAY
I. Is the overall emergency spillway system of currently capable of passing the design storm discharge? Yes
No
The capacities of the spillways were not checked. The spillways are in good condition.
2. Does it appear as if the emergeny spillways have discharged water since the last inspection? Yes
No X .
3. Ls erosion occurring at any section of the emergency spillways? Yes _ No X . Describe extent and
location• None.
SEDIMENT STORAGE CAPACITY
1. Has the design sediment storage capacity of the reservoir been surpassed? Yes _ No _ If yes,
explain.
Water in the ponds obscured any sedimen[ that may have been in the ponds. A cursory review of Permit
documentation available found no design sedimentation volume for the current pond.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
1. Indications of potential failure or instability: None. There were no indications of slumps, slides, cracks,
or differential settlement on the embankments (upslope or downslope).
2. There were no indications of rodent activity on the embankments (upslope or downslope).
3. Threat to human life or property: slight to none except to the structures [hemselves. Maximum capacity
of Pond 002 is approximately 0.8 acre feet. The maximum capacity of Pond 002A is approximately 0.5 acre
feet, and approximately 0.9 acre feet for Pond 002B. The region below the structures is a short slope to
the ephemral stream, u~th no development.
5. Potential harm to land, air, and water resources: Water quality of the Purgatoire River could be affected
by a release from one or a combination of the three ponds, not exceeding approximately 2.5 acre feet of
mine water discharge, for a short period of time should the pond embankments fail.
MAINTENANCE REQUIRED
1. None.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION (Compaction tests, surveys, photo¢ranhs, other measurements
1.
