A surcharge loading
of 200 pounds per square foot (psf) was used to model construction loading. Material properties used in the slope stability
analyses are summarized in Table 3.2. The material properties are similar to those used in
GEI's previous slope stability evaluation for the western portion of the reservoir (GEI, 2001 a).
TABLE 3.2
SUMMARY OF MATERIAL PROPERTIES FOR SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS
Drained Stren th
Material Moist Unit Weight
(pct Saturated Unit Weight
(pcf7 Cohesion
s Friction Angle
de rees
Overburden 120 125 0 30
Sand and Gravel 123 125 0 35
Soil-eentonite Cutoff wall 115 120 0 15
Stabilization Fill 123 125 0 28
Bedrock 130 135 1000 30
3.5 Water Pressures
Water pressures were estimated for two steady state seepage conditions as follows:
• Full reservoir:
o Reservoir at normal pool.
o Water level in the South Platte River at El. 50] 3.
o Water surface outside of the pit in areas not along the South Platte River at 8 feet
below existing ground surface.
GEI Consultants, Inc. 10 0?OYO 03-Oi-)1 IA Haxdiine Dsipn T\t
