•~
12
information regarding the potential for cavern prcblems.
This Hermit requires submittal of the subsidence monitored
results. If the subsidence monitoring indicates that there
is significant subsidence, additional monitoring or other
corrective zctions could be initiated.
The injection Pluid and production fluid pipelines shall be
equipped with sampling ports to facilitate periodic
collection of samples for chemical analysis. Injection
fluid samples shall be collected from the pipeline
immediately upstream of where the pipeline branches to feed
all solution mining wells. Production fluid shall be
sampled at each solution mining well. Samples sha.11 be
collected and analyzed on an as needed basis and used only
to calibrate and confirm the accuracy of the densi~_y meters.
Some samples shall be preserved for off-site analy;sis by an
analytical laboratory and others shall be analyzed on site.
On-site chemical analyses would likely include the following
parameters:
• sodium bicarbonate
• sodium carbonate
• sodium chloride
• pH
• specific gravity
• temperature
Samples sent to off-site laboratories shall be analyzed for
the actual composition of the fluid for
correlation/calibration of the density measurements and for
Drocess evaluations.
Monitoring of water quality and water level in wells will
occur on a monthly basis. Monitoring wells currently
include wells 20-1, 20-5, and 20-8. Approximately six (6)
more wells, which have been installed, shall be added to the
monitoring program 6 (six) months prior to the comm~ancement
of operations. Additional Dissolution Surface moni~=orinq
wells may be installed and added to the monitoring )grogram,
as needed, as development of the commercial solution mining
well field progresses.
At a minimum, the first mining panel will have one(].) up-
gradient, one (1) cross-gradient well in the center of the
panel and two (2) down-gradient wells. These wells will
monitor the Uinta aquifer, the lower aquifer and they
alluvium as needed. The results of groundwater monitoring.
for the first 5 years of mining shall be used to develop an
appropriate monitoring program for subsequent 5-year mining
panels. The wells and monitoring zones shall be described
in an approved sample plan to be submitted by American Soda
~`~w
M ~^
d`~~ e~•~
.+`
2'u~ e+^
