A plan view of the C-Seam, B-Seam and the slide.
2. Hydrologic Monitoring Data for monitoring well AA-1 from 1987 through 1995 which is the
period the monitoring well showed much higher than expected conductivity values.
3. Hydrologic Monitoring Data for the Edwards Mine spring from December 1997 through
December 1998, the period for which laboratory data is available.
4. A comparison of the Edwards Mine spring and well AA-1. Selected average quality data
of the spring and well AA-1 indicates the water in well AA-1 is very similar to the spring
water. It appears the well water is diluted which could be expected. Since the comparison
is based on average values from different time periods, the correlation between the spring
water and well AA-1 is quite good.
5. A comparison of the quality data of water discharged from the Bear No. 3 Mine during 1995
to the spring water. The water discharged from the mine was tested for parameters
dictated by the Department of Health so there are only a few data points to compare. The
correlation between the spring water and the mine water is poor.
In summary, I believe there is substantial data to support Bear's position that the water emerging
from the slide is not mine water. The data supports the view that the spring water existed as early
as 1987 when it contaminated well AA-1.
Copies of laboratory reports are available upon request. Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~~
J. E. Stover, P.E.
Consulting Engineer
