No record exists
that the Hubbard Creek sediment pond has ever discharged.
In an April 4, 1994 letter from Walter L. Wright, Mine Manager to
Mr. Mike Long, Director of Minerals & Geology, SMC committed to a
weekly site inspection based on an internal compliance checklist
by the environmental compliance coordinator. Part of that
checklist includes the Hubbard Creek site areas.
Even though Delta County has made some improvements to the
Hubbard Creek road, during the weekly inspection on November 29,
1994, the road was snow packed, icy, and impassable with a four-
wheel-drive pickup. Due to the elevation drop from the side of
the road in the slide area of the Hubbard Creek road, SMC does
not consider the road to be safe to travel during the winter.
P.O.
